EngineersPrep ("we," "us," or "our") provides an online educational platform for engineering students in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information, and the choices you have regarding your data.

By accessing or using EngineersPrep, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

When you create an account or interact with the Platform, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Full name
  • Password (stored only in hashed form)
  • Optional information: phone number, address, city, state, ZIP code, country, university email
  • Comments, feedback, or images you submit

b. Payment Information

  • Payments are processed by Stripe
  • We do not store full credit card numbers
  • We may store limited billing information such as:
  • Card brand
  • Last four digits
  • Expiration date
  • Billing address
  • Transaction records (amounts, timestamps, status) may be stored for operational, accounting, and compliance purposes

c. Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect:

  • IP addresses
  • Login timestamps and activity logs
  • Device and browser information (user agent, device info)
  • Session and audit logs for security and abuse prevention

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Platform
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Communicate service-related notices
  • Monitor security, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms & Conditions
  • Improve platform functionality and performance

We may also use information as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Platform, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Primary data storage: PostgreSQL
  • File storage (videos, PDFs): DigitalOcean Spaces
    • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with automatic salting
    • Sensitive tokens are encrypted
    • HTTPS/TLS is enforced across the Platform
    • Credit card data is handled entirely by Stripe

    While we use industry-standard security measures, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

    • Accounts are deactivated using a soft-delete mechanism
    • Active sessions are terminated immediately upon deactivation
    • Certain data may be retained after account deactivation for operational, legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes
    • Full data deletion is not automatically performed at this time

    6. Cookies & Local Storage

    • EngineersPrep does not use advertising or analytics cookies
    • Authentication relies on secure local storage for session tokens
    • Minimal cookies or local storage may be used for essential user interface functionality only

    7. Third-Party Services

    We share limited data only with services necessary to operate the Platform:

  • Stripe – payment processing
  • Microsoft Graph (Office 365) – email communications
  • DigitalOcean Spaces – file storage

    • These third parties process data only as required to provide their services.

    8. Legal Requests & Law Enforcement

    We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests from courts, law enforcement agencies, or other public authorities.

    9. Business Transfers

    If EngineersPrep or its parent company is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

    10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

    If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

    • Request access to your personal information
    • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to system limitations)
    • Know whether your personal information is sold (it is not)

    • 11. Children's Privacy

    EngineersPrep is not intended for children under the age of 13.

    We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

    If we become aware of such data, we may suspend or delete the associated account.

    12. International Access

    EngineersPrep is intended for users located in the United States.

    If you access the Platform from outside the United States, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

    13. Updates to This Privacy Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

    Changes will be posted with an updated effective date.

    Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
